Lessons - adults and children (age 4 and up)

We offer lessons in piano/keyboard, guitar, voice and songwriting in our home studio, close to the centre of Beechworth town. We enjoy the teaching space and feel it is conducive to a relaxed and fun learning environment.

An inspiring start to music-making that is fun, engaging and teaches key skills and techniques. Tailoring lessons according to what YOU want to achieve. Age 4 and up.

Piano/keyboard

  • Become familiar with the piano
  • Learn to play and read music
  • Learn to play familiar songs by ear
  • Develop and refine technique and skills
  • Consolidate knowledge using the Piano Maestro App
  • Record your music-making to share with others
  • Learn to accompany yourself while singing (optional)
  • Develop your own songwriting skills (optional)

Guitar

  • Become familiar with the guitar
  • Learn to play chords, different strumming patterns and read chord charts
  • Learn to play and read music
  • Learn to play familiar songs
  • Learn how to read TAB notation
  • Develop and refine technique and skills
  • Record your music-making to share with others 
  • Learn to accompany yourself while singing (optional)
  • Develop your own songwriting skills (optional)

Voice

  • Become familiar with how we use our bodies to sing and produce sound
  • Learn warmups and singing exercises to use your voice safely, confidently and to extend range
  • Learn to sing familiar songs
  • Record your voice with accompaniment (provided)
  • Develop and refine performance technique and build confidence
  • Develop your own songwriting skills (optional)


Songwriting & Home Recording

If you are starting out as a songwriter and would like guidance to improve your skills, Amy can help you with:

  • Song structures eg verse, chorus, bridge
  • Lyrics - eg rhyming, conveying a message, improving the overall sound and structure
  • Catchy hook lines - 'hook' your listener in
  • Instrumentation - deciding what instruments to include in your song
  • Recording your work - creating a polished song for your own enjoyment and/or to share with others
